North Star Care Standard

How care is structured at North Star Behavioral Health.

Care built around continuity

Care at North Star Behavioral Health is built around continuity. That means working with the same clinician over time, not feeling rushed in appointments, and being able to reach the practice when something changes — not just when a visit is scheduled.

Real healing — the kind that involves difficulty, continuity, and repair — is most possible when patients are known over time and don't have to start over.

What supports that

Some of what makes this possible happens during appointments. Much of it happens outside of them.

Between visits, the practice is actively:

  • Coordinating prescriptions
  • Responding to messages and refill requests
  • Arranging clinical coverage when a clinician is away
  • Maintaining secure, reliable communication systems

These systems are in place for all patients, whether visits are frequent or occasional. When they are working well, they are often invisible — which is the point.

What the Care Standard is

The North Star Care Standard is the structure through which patients engage in this practice.

It is the manifestation of how care is practiced here: unhurried, continuous, and organized around a relationship that has time to develop and repair.

As the practice has grown — across age groups, with more collaboration among clinicians, and with more consistent internal coverage — the work that supports care between visits has become more complex. Rather than reduce that work or increase patient volume, North Star has chosen to support it directly. The Care Standard is how that happens.

How it works

The Care Standard is an annual fee, separate from appointment charges. Appointments continue to be scheduled and billed as they are now.

$600 per patient, annually
For families with more than one member receiving care: $600 for the first family member, $300 for each additional household member, with a maximum of $1,000 per family annually.

The fee is the same regardless of visit frequency, because the systems it supports are in place for all patients — whether visits are frequent or occasional.

Enrollment

Enrollment is managed through Hint Health. New patients receive enrollment instructions following their initial consultation, should they wish to proceed in treatment.

A note on how North Star is different

Much of healthcare today moves toward greater efficiency — shorter visits, larger panels, more limited contact between appointments.

North Star is structured differently. The goal is care that is consistent, unhurried, and built around a relationship that develops over time — where continuity makes repair possible.

If you are interested in becoming a patient, complete our intake form and we will be in touch. We will take time to get to know you and answer your questions. If you would like to move forward, we can schedule a consultation — and if after that you would like to proceed, that is when enrollment in the Care Standard takes place.
