North Star Conversations Transcript: Walk-and-Talk Therapy and Yoga for Adults—True Mind + Body
In this clip, Melissa Novack, LCSW, describes how True Mind + Body supports adults through walk-and-talk therapy and yoga-based practices—extending mind-body work beyond kids and adolescents. She emphasizes how movement, nature, and mindfulness can be powerful tools in adult therapy, not just play therapy for children.

I'm an adult psychiatrist. There's three child psychiatrists in my practice, but I don't treat kids. So if I have someone that I want to refer for therapy what do they end up doing?

So I think the unique offerings we have for a client like that, so we're talking an adult who isn't gonna go shoot hoops with Mike in a sport court, is probably gonna do walk and talk therapy. We're getting outside, we're experiencing sunshine, wind, forward movement, everything we know that supports our hormone system. And yoga therapy, we have a really awesome space in our center where one can be mindful or meditate or practice yoga. And so the mind-body work isn't just for kids at all. We would love to support that in adults in any way that felt good to them. I mean, if we had a pickleball court we'd use it for adults. Maybe that's the next idea.
